Energy Medicine Ireland

What is Energy Medicine?

Energy therapies may help with: a sense of whole body balance, enhanced wellbeing, feelings of relaxation, relief of tension, improved circulation, improved mood, improved outlook, increased energy levels, more efficient removal of impurities and toxins.

Energy Medicine (as taught by my first teacher Donna Eden) has been described as 'acupuncture without the needles' but this only scratches the surface. This system of energy therapy, described by Jean Houston as 'perhaps the most brilliant, comprehensive, and effective system in the genre that I have ever seen' includes some practices which may be familiar to you from qi gong, yoga, Polarity Therapy, Touch for Health, jin shin jyutsu and other traditional healing practices, and others unique to Donna's work, alongside deeply nurturing hands on bodywork. A unique feature of this form of Energy Medicine is that over the years of required training, practitioners become highly skilled in energy testing using kinesiology which means we can track deep imbalances which may not be found or balanced by other therapies. Many practitioners also develop kinaesthetic or visual sensitivity to subtle energies.

Many different subtle energy systems of the body have been described in healing traditions throughout the world. Acupuncture and qi gong use the meridian system and sometimes the extraordinary meridians (what Donna refers to as the radiant circuits or strangeflows), yoga works on the nadis, chakra and auric field, reiki practitioners may also work with the chakra system. By contrast in Eden Energy Medicine we work with nine energy systems and the interactions among them: the nine energy systems we use are the meridians, chakras, auric field, the radiant circuits, the Five Elements, Triple Warmer, the Electrics, the Celtic Weave and at the deepest layer the Basic Grid. We do not diagnose or treat symptoms but rather track and balance the underlying energies. Energy Medicine is both a complete system of healing and self care and an excellent complement to conventional medical treatments.

Who practices Energy Medicine?

Deirdre is one of the few fully qualified and practising therapists originally certified by Donna Eden Innersource in Europe and has been involved in energy medicine for almost 20 years. She now teaches fully supported energy medicine based training programmes, specialising in Energy Medicine for Women.

Energy medicine is a comprehensive system of understanding and balancing the body's energies, with extensive professional training in the practical and theoretical skills needed to work proficiently. Mentoring and supervision are a vital part of the training and practitioners are dedicated to working on themselves in order to be in the best possible energetic shape to work with you. My registered practitioners adhere to a code of ethics, stay up to date with regular continuing professional development and develop their own sensitivities in working with energy through daily practice.

energy needs to move | energy needs space to move | energy moves in specific patterns

Energy medicine is based on the premise that everything is composed of energy – we are a latticework of energies that can be impacted by the energies of other people, events and our environment.

By learning simple energy techniques, you can improve your health, sharpen your mind, and increase your joy and vitality.

  • Strengthen your immune system

  • Relieve pain and common complaints

  • Ease depression, restore joy and lift your spirits

  • Keep yourself healthy and balanced with a simple Daily Energy routine

Energy medicine is both a complement to other approaches to medical care and a complete system for self-care and self-help.

1. How is Energy Medicine Practiced?

Energy Medicine utilises techniques from ancient traditions such as acupuncture, yoga, kinesiology, and qi gong. Flow and harmony can be restored and maintained within an energy system by tapping, massaging, pinching, twisting, or connecting specific energy points (acupoints) on the skin; by tracing or swirling the hand over the skin along specific energy pathways; through exercises or postures designed for specific energetic effects; by focused use of the mind to move specific energies; and/or by surrounding an area with healing energies.

2. How Does It Work?

Energy Medicine recognises energy as a vital, living, moving force that determines much about health and happiness.

To maintain vibrant health, the body needs its energies to:

  • Move and have space to continue to move—energies may become blocked due to toxins, muscular or other constriction, prolonged stress, or interference from other energies.

  • Move in specific patterns—generally in harmony with the physical structures and functions that the energies animate and support. "Flow follows function."

  • Cross over—at all levels, from the microlevel of the double helix of DNA, extending to the macrolevel where the left side of the brain controls the right side of the body and the right side controls the left.

  • Maintain a balance with other energies—the energies may lose their natural balance due to prolonged stress or other conditions that keep specific energy systems in a survival mode.

  • Conversely, when the body is not healthy, corresponding disturbances in its energies can be identified and treated.

3. Is Energy Medicine Spiritual?

Entering the world of your body's subtle energies is a bridge into the domain of your deepest spiritual callings and your eternal essence. While no particular belief system, allegiance, or religious affiliation is associated with Energy Medicine, many people find that energy work touches into the realms of soul and spirit.

4. Can anyone do it?

Absolutely! Working with your energies is your birthright!
